Social Navigation

$19.95Price

Social Navigation for Autistic Girls was informed by my clinical work as a psychologist with autistic girls, and grew out of conversations and themes that came up again and again with this age group. It has been adapted into a workbook so that girls who may not currently have access to a psychologist (due to cost, waitlists, or circumstance) can still begin learning about their experience.

This workbook is not a substitute for therapy, assessment, or any form of psychological treatment. It is an educational and self-reflective resource, designed to support autistic girls to understand themselves in a structured, accessible, and neuroaffirming way.

Across seven chapters, readers explore friendships, communication differences, the sneaky kind of mean (relational aggression), exclusion, scripts for tricky moments, repair after misunderstandings, social anxiety, masking, people-pleasing, and self-worth. Each chapter includes information alongside reflective prompts, checklists, and practical activities the reader can return to over time. The workbook can be completed independently, alongside a parent or carer, or with a clinician.

Content has been carefully scoped for this age group. Social Navigation does not cover puberty, periods, gender identity, romantic or sexual relationships, abuse or trauma. These are important topics, but they sit outside the scope of this workbook and are better addressed through alternative resources.

Social Navigation works as a standalone workbook, or as a companion to Girl Code: Workbook for Autistic Girls, it offers deeper dive into the friendships chapter.
